SEG Automotive enters series production for 800V e-machine components
Major ‘break-through’ on our path towards becoming the motor for high voltage mobility: We are now officially in series production in China with an 800V stator and rotor.
In this project, we deliver components to one of China’s leading new energy vehicle players. Considering we have several more HV projects in preparation or extensive customer talks, we have put ourselves firmly on the map as a supplier of HV components.
For this project, we are introducing a number of innovations in the fields of winding technology, stator, and rotor design.
Just 15 months from first exchange to start of production
This project is a testament to how fast-moving the Chinese market is – and that, as #oneteamonecompany, SEG Automotive is more than up to the challenge: Only 15 months elapsed between the first meeting with the customer and bringing these 800V components into series production.
“This is an incredible accomplishment for our team in China, and, indeed, our entire company,” says Rüdiger Benz, Senior Vice President Engineering. “Everyone in team China company fought tooth and nail to make it happen – and is a great precedent for our future HV launches. So, the break-through in China is a huge boost also to our global high voltage break-through.”
Ready for ramp-up
For this project, we built up an ‘ultra-flexible line’ compatible with a wide range of customer requirements regarding diameter and power level, thus covering most 400 and 800V CV and PC applications.
Two additional high-volume lines will further increase our capacity. “Both the e-machine components themselves and our manufacturing lines feature a high degree of innovation and newly developed intellectual property,” says Paul Sun, Regional President of SEG Automotive. “Our lines, for example, feature a host of smart industry 4.0 solutions, including full traceability, ‘digital twins’ of the manufacturing, and automated transport of goods (AGV). We are the motor! And, together with our colleagues outside China, we are ready to conquer the global HV market!”
